WHAT DOES CAMAJ STAND FOR?

CAMAJ stands for the Chinese Alliance for Memorial and Justice.

WHAT IS IT?

It is a non-profit and non-partisan group made up of Chinese American scholars, historians, writers, artists and other professionals of diverse disciplines.

WHAT DOES IT DO?

The purpose of CAMAJ is 3-fold. First, to study and evaluate the historical facts and truth of the Sino-Japanese relationship, especially during Japan's 15-Year War against China, which led to the bombing of Pearl Harbor and full-scale war in the Pacific during World War II. Second, to commemorate the millions of Chinese and other victims who died in the most devastating holocaust in Asia in the modern times, by establishing collections of printed and visual materials dealing with the subject and commemorative libraries/museums to house the same. Third, to assess the war damages that the Chinese people sustained, and to seek equitable indemnity from responsible parties, official or otherwise.

WHAT ARE THE WORKING PROGRAMS OF CAMAJ?

CAMAJ sponsors forums and exhibits to discuss and present the various aspects and ramifications of the War: social, political, cultural, etc.; to publish books, articles and monographs on the same, and through art, music and other audio-visual means, to consecrate the memory of the dead and to promote in the living a sense of historical Awareness.

HOW IS CAMAJ FOUNDED?

CAMAJ is entirely funded by private donations. Its work is done by volunteers.
